What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I had my free chat today and the one thing I just ran out of time to ask was what exactly WV does/can do in terms of direct contact with my wife/her solicitor? Do they provide representation on my behalf or is it advice-only?

We are trying to do an amicable (no-court) split but communication has been strained. I would love to try and break the log-jam by using mediation but I do not know if she'll even respond to a request.. trying to agree everything through solicitor sounds like a nightmare swimming in treacle.

So I'm just after any personal stories of what it looked like using their services, how it actually went? Thanks.
