What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Helping a friend who is not uising a solicitor. Other side has very complex HMRC tax problems, years of tax debts, etc. Once we have received their form E and Open offer, if we have queries on the information provided, can we simlpy write to their solicitor and request further disclosures, or do we need to go through the Court? After the FDR financial hearing, there was a Court Order re. HMRC info. They provided a very poor reply, lots of gaps. If we go back to the Court to seek more disclosures, what are normal Court fees.

Both sides can ask questions to clarify points on form E.
Just send them to the solicitor.
