Counsel fees

Was due to go to court next week but following the PMs address this is now going to be cancelled. The fees to counsel seem to be sunk. Is that correct? we seem to have spent most of today handing back money to clients but it does seem to apply to the legal profession.

Has there been clarification from the court that the hearing is to be vacated?

The vast majority of hearings will be conducted via video or telephone calls for the foreseeable future.

You would need to check the T&Cs of the barrister regarding any potential refund.

Thank you that is helpful. There hasn't been any clarification to that effect, so we shall assume it is still on until we hear otherwise although the format may be different.

Are you represented? If you are your solicitor should be in touch with the court to find out how the hearing is to proceed. If not you should call the court and/or check their website for information.

Thanks. Yes they are not going to do a final hearing. Opposition has refused arbitration, well the applicant has, his counsel and solicitor having wanted to do it. So having to go round the buoy again. Directions hearing by skype in about 6 weeks followed by a final hearing in the autumn. His strategy remains to break my partner financially and to have another 6 months to jettison what he can and point to the stock market crash.
