What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

After letting my last Barrister go, my solicitor said he would get a Barrister from London, he is quoting £2500-£3000 for this guy, is this about right ?

It depends what sort of hearing it is. If it's finances I would expect that sort of money for an FDR. Too expensive for an FDA and too cheap for a final hearing.

I would also wager that those figures will be +VAT.

My partner is paying £5K for one for an FDR. Having seen him in action he is worth every penny.

Yes is an FDR, sounded a lot but he could save me a bunch, of course it all comes down to the judge, no matter how good the Barrister is.
